“I’m a military wife and since we are constantly moving away from family, I like my children’s birthdays to be a big celebration. It’s important to me that they feel special on their big day.
I started planning my daughter’s first birthday party around these beautiful paper fans I found one day while browsing online. I knew I wanted lots of gold, white and ivory to coordinate with the fans. I also knew I wanted to use the fans to be a large dramatic backdrop. From that point, I started piecing together the rest of the details.
I spent about two weeks planning the party and picking the decorations. Some decorations were handmade and others I found online. Each and every detail was thought out and then assembled.
I tied tulle around little containers of white non-toxic bubbles as a fun treat for kids of all ages. I wanted the children to have a party favor they could take home and reuse, so I ordered glass reusable milk jars. I personalized them by putting a gold vinyl number one on the front and a gold paper straw on the inside. This also saved on plastic and paper cup waste.
A make your own candied marshmallow bar and a color your own birthday cake printable were some of the activities.
For food we had handmade croissant sandwiches, loaded pasta salad, hummus, popcorn, pita chips and veggies. Dessert was dipped pretzels and marshmallows in white chocolate.
For the children’s drink, we had “Liquid Gold” which consists of ginger ale and white grape juice. The kids drank out of plastic champagne flutes, they felt quite fancy.
The adults were given mimosas and a gold glitter candle holder as a party favor.
Overall the entire party was a hit! ”
