Being a stay at home mom is one of the greatest things I could have asked for. Getting to stay home and be there for every step of my little one’s life has been a true gift. The one downside though is living on one income. I know that living on just one income can be a little difficult (especially for a shopaholic like me) but I’ve discovered some great tricks that have really helped my family save a great deal of money. This stay at home mom thing is way more enjoyable when you don’t have to worry about money! Here are my top 5 money-saving tips! Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links.
Amazon Family– This is amazing! Any parent knows just how expensive little ones can be. I really don’t want to think about how much money we spend on diapers and wipes especially with a little one on the way! This Amazon program gives you the opportunity to save 20% off diaper subscriptions! I will admit we didn’t use this with my first and that was a huge mistake! We missed out on so many big savings. We are already signed up and ready for this second peanut.
The Amazon Family helps us save so much with their diaper subscriptions and on other baby products. You will go through so many diapers and wipes so any savings is truly worth it! You get 15-20% off of diapers that are delivered to your door monthly or bi-monthly. You can also get deals on other household or baby supplies. Ebates– Dear fellow Mama shopaholics, meet you new best shopping buddy! Ebates!!
I will admit I’m a bit of a shopaholic. I love shopping especially online shopping! With a toddler and one on the way it’s just so much easier to shop online. Like many moms I’m a stay at home Mom. I run my blog from home and it’s been great to be home with the kiddos but it also means we gave up the chance of having a full-time second income. What’s a shopaholic to do??!! Well my new obsession is something I’ve heard about for years but just never tried it. It’s a website called Ebates! I honestly don’t know why I never gave it a chance. Even after all my girlfriends all told me how amazing it was. I think I felt like it was an annoying extra step or that the stores I shopped at wouldn’t be on there. Well let me tell you wow I was so so so wrong! I kick my self now for thinking how much money I could have gotten back! Easily missed out on hundreds of dollars! I finally decided to join in the last month before Baby number two gets here. I’ve been making a bunch of baby product purchases these past few months and when I saw the cash back deals I missed out on I was truly disappointed in myself for not giving Ebates a chance before. Well I’m trying to not think about all that money I could have gotten and instead focusing on watching my current amount grow with ever online purchase I make! In two weeks I hit over $50 back. The site is actually really easy to navigate and to see what stores have the best deals. Also if you use google chrome they has a button add on that will tell you if the site your on has any great coupons, deals or cash back deals going on! It really doesn’t get much easier than that to earn money!
I honestly will say I should of listened to my friends years ago when they got into Ebates so please do your self a favor and try it out! It’s free to sign up and doesn’t require a credit card. Also if you sign up using my referral code you can get an extra $10 welcome bonus!! Woohoo free $10!! Just click here to learn how to get your free $10 sign up bonus. You can get your money by check or by choosing a gift card option. So far I’ve just been doing checks but I may do a gift car this next round.
Let me know if you sign up and what your favorite shops are? My most recent favorite stores have been Buy Buy Baby, Macy’s, Toms, Uggs, and Carters! So many great deals to check out! So don’t be in denial like I was! Trust me you will kick yourself for not giving Ebates a try sooner! Try not to think about all the money you lost but the money you will gain from all your future purchases!

Getting Rid Of Cable– One way to save money is to just get rid of cable. Thanks to the internet you really don’t have to worry too much about having cable anymore. This helped us save a good chunk of money.
When we moved into our new home we decided to get rid of cable and telephone and just do wifi. We use netflix and apple tv for watching all our favorite shows. We get to watch what we want and when we want which is awesome. The best part of our day is when my husband and I get to watch a show we love at night after the little ones are in bed. Netflix and Hulu subscriptions are pretty cheap so we save a great deal then if we were still paying for cable. We also decided against getting a home phone since we are so depended on our cell phones and use them so much. We just didn’t see the need for a home phone.
Amazon Fresh– Ok this is a pretty new concept for me but WOW what a game changer! Amazon now offers easy home grocery shopping and delivery available in many places and quickly expanding. One of the most annoying things for me as a mom with little ones is running errands especially grocery shopping. It turns into an all day trip and usually ends in a headache for this mama.
I try to make lists but when you’re in a rush and trying to watch over your little munchkins things can get pretty crazy and I always end up forgetting to get some stuff I need. Not anymore!!! I can easily go on amazon and click all the great grocery products my family needs for the week. Delivery is super easy, after all it is Amazon we are talking about! I now know I am getting exactly what I need and I won’t be distracted by making extra purchases or the little ones adding treats to the cart.
This helps me so much when trying to stick to a weekly meal budget. I can plan out the meals I want to make for the week and get exactly what we need! No more forgetting items at the store and needing to make an extra trip. Not only am I saving gas and my sanity but also so much time. This is also really great if you’re trying to do a diet. No more distractions or going down the candy aisle. To try your own Amazon Fresh Free Trial just click here. I’ve quickly learned that being a mom with little ones is really all about finding ways to simplify your life for the better and that makes this mama very happy!
Selling old Baby Clothes– One great way to make some extra money is by selling the clothes your little ones grow out of. As a mom you know that little ones can grow out of their clothes in a blink of an eye! So many moms are always looking for a great deal on baby clothes. Post on Facebook that your selling your clothes or in local mom groups.

You made me feel so good! I am doing these! Amazon is pretty much my never ending gift. As a work-at-home mama, I do not have time to go to all of the places I need! Amazon has it all. I just discovered Ebates and I would like to know why it took me so long to jump on the bandwagon! We also just cut cable. Another thing I am wondering why we took so long. We only watch Netflix as it is! This is a great list!
Great ideas! I’ve been meaning to try ebates and recently heard about Amazon fresh. I’ll have to check them out!
