Ashley and her husband decided to create a very special and meaningful nursery for their first baby. After being in the military and moving from base to base, they miss the beauty of the mountains from back home. They show us how they were inspired by the mountains and how to they created a beautiful mural that severs dual purpose.
“We have been married for almost 13 years and baby Hudson will be our first child. We were both born and raised in the Albany NY area and grew up in the mountains. The Military has moved us all over the word (mostly beach locations) and we miss the mountains. We want a part of our home town with Hudson and that is why we love the room. Don’t get me wrong the beach is nice but after living in North Carolina, Guam and now Florida we do miss hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
My husband Justin was inspired to paint the mural because he loves the mountains. The black hills are painted with chalkboard paint so when Baby Hudson is older he will be able to draw on the hills. The hills were done by freehand and we used painters tape to make the mountains. All of the paint was purchased at Home Deport.
The crib, dresser, curtains, Scripture and rocker were all purchased on Amazon. The book shelf and canvas totes were purchased at Target. The airplane was purchased at Hobby Lobby and the hot balloon was purchased at a small store on main street in Stockbridge Massachusetts. I painted the door hanger myself at a local studio.
We have a few more things to add to the room. We are having a decal made for above his bed and will be adding a long magnetic chalkboard above the bookshelf. We will use the magnetic chalkboard to change out pictures of family. We want to make sure all of his grandparents, aunts, uncles and close family are represented in his room and that he can see them at anytime.”
Thank you to Ashley and Justin for sharing Hudson’s beautiful nursery. We love the chalkboard mountains idea so much!
