Is the big day is just around the corner? Be extra prepared with our Hospital Must Have Checklist.
We included everything that real moms said is an absolute must to have for the hospital. It’s better to be over-prepaired than under-prepaird. You can feel confident that you will have everything you really need including what other mom’s wish they brought. We suggest that you are hospital packed and ready at least 5-4 weeks before your due date. Be sure to check out the other part to our Hospital Packing List series Hospital Packing Checklist: Packing for Baby. Disclosure: this post contains some affiliate links.
For Comfort:
Sleep Better Slumber Pillow – Hospital pillows aren’t always the most comfortable. You will be spending a lot of time in bed so make sure to bring a pillow. It will make a big difference!
Boppy Luxe Pillow – This a great item to bring with you to the hospital because it serves two great purposes. It can provide some extra needed headrest for you and it is a wonderful way to make you and your baby comfortable during breastfeeding.
To Wear:
Topshop Maternity Lace and Mesh Nursing Bra – Your going to want to wear a nursing bra for both comfort and ease when trying out breastfeeding for the first time with your little one.
Milk & Baby Postpartum Underwear – Things are going to get messy and be a bit uncomfortable right after labor. Wear these pretty postpartum undies to provide the right amount of comfort and some much-needed style. You can always wear the mesh underwear the hospital provides but we think these are way better!
Ekouaer Sleepwear Womens Nightgown – After delivery you are going to want to wear something soft and comfortable. Go for a simple pretty nightgown. We love this black and lace nightgown because it adds a bit of glam style all while be super cosy. Also make sure that a nightgown has easy access for breastfeeding if you choose to breastfeed.
Ugg Australia Womens Duffield Robe – You will most likely be spending 2 to 3 days at the hospital. Bring along a very cosy robe to maximize comfort. It’s perfect to throw on when you have visitors and for when you take a stroll through the hallways. Hospitals can also be on the colder side so a cozy robe could be perfect for that extra warmth.
Labor & Delivery Non Skid Socks by Baby Be Mine Maternity – Sometime you just want to wear socks. Let these adorable push socks help give you that extra support you need during delivery.
Ugg Australia Women’s Ansley Suede – Having a pair of slippers is a must for the hospital.
Havaianas Women’s Slim Flip Flop – Flip flops will come in handy when you take a shower at the hospital.
Toilet Trees:
Hair ties – This is a must. Bring a bunch because you will want to have one at hands reach at all times.
Body Lotion – Hospitals can make your skin feel really dry so invest in your favorite hand/ body lotion.
Nipple Cream – If you choose to breast feed your baby then this will become your favorite product and will be used all the time. Your nipples will be sore and this stuff is magical!
Travel Toothbrush and toothpaste – You will most likely be spending the night at the hospital so bring a travel toothbrush and paste with you.
Chapstick – Hospital air can be drying so bring a chapstick with you.
Deodorant – A must to keep you smelling pretty.
Tissues – You can never have enough tissues! After having a baby you will be going through many emotions and it’s perfect for when family come to visit.
Brush – Things can get a little messy during delivery and most likely you will put your hair in a messy topknot. After it’s over you will want to clean up and brush your hair for the going home photos. Not everyone can afford a hair stylist to come do their hair (though I highly suggest it) so bringing a brush will help make things look more tamed.
Shampoo and Conditioner – You will need this if you choose to take a shower at the hospital. Here’s a mommy tip, invest in a luxurious travel sized shampoo and conditioner. it will make you feel a little glam and after what you just did, you deserve to feel special!
Hair dryer – Yes the hospital will have one but if you have long or thick hair then those little dryers will take way too long to dry your hair. To much time taking away from staring at your new little pride and joy. Take one from home or try this super cute pink travel dryer.
Electronics:
Sony A6000 Camera – We highly recommend investing in a great camera. You want to make sure you capture all the special moments of your little one’s life and this camera will do just that! Take a camera to make sure you will have great photos of this life changing event.
iPad – There can be a lot of waiting at the hospital and it can get dull really fast. Take an iPad with you and load it up with your favorite movies and tv shows.
Charger – Bring your chargers with you to make sure you never run out of juice. It also helps to bring a battery pack for easy charging your important items.
Phone – This is a must. You will want to keep all your family and friends in the loop of everything going on. Also great for sharing your big news on Facebook.
Snacks:
Spending all that time at a hospital can make you pretty hungry. It’s a good idea to bring some yummy snacks so that you can have something to eat. You can’t eat during actual delivery but you will be so focused on meeting your baby that food will be the last thing you think about. The extra snacks are also super handy for your partner and visiting family. Keep your snacks organized in a super cute lunch box like this one!
