Things have been different lately due to the spread of a virus. My oldest is home from school and we are still unsure when they will go back. Now having the kids home all the time isn’t something new to me. I used to homeschool my oldest and I admit that at times it can be challenging but I absolutely loved all the benefits that we had when we homeschooled.
Now it seems as though we have all become mandatory homeschool teachers overnight. My oldest is in kindergarten and my youngest is 2 years old. I find that during these early ages it is important to make everything fun. It is also important to have some kind of schedule. I’m not calling for a hour by hour breakdown because as any mother knows that is just impossible with small kids. Instead I prefer having a light schedule or more of a check list of things for us to get done each day.
I’ve found that doing Daily Point Charts have been a great way for my oldest to transition to being home full time. We have done chore charts before but they didn’t seem as fun to do with everything going on. We sat down and decided what our 5 daily point tasks should be. Don’t make it too overwhelming for them. My oldest is in kindergarten so we decided to do some things like make bed/clean up room, help set and clear the table, 20mins reading time and so on. Even though my youngest is 2 we still let her have her own chart. She loves to copy her older sister.
Fill the chart with 5 tasks. I try to add some fun things like 30 min craft time. Something that she can look forward to each day. Once she finishes a task she can check off the box for that day. If she checks off every box for that day we can have something special like a special dessert or watch a movie of her choice that night. So far the Daily Point Chart has been a hit and both girls enjoy doing it. Any little thing can help during this crazy time.
Enjoy this free Daily Point Chart! Hope it makes your days a little more organized and fun!
