It just seems like today kids are all about the iphones, ipads, tablets, and computer screens. If you’re not an over the top animation in vivid color and dimension, it’s kind of hard to hold a child’s attention. That is why my team and I are on the hunt for the most fabulous children’s book on the market. We are bringing the fun back to literature in a bright and exciting way! Get your little ones ready, warm up the blankets, and light the candle, its story time!
My Three Must Haves
Here are my top three for any little library! Each book unique, educational, and absolutely adorable!
Ish
Peter H. Reynolds
Recommended ages 5 and up
My absolute favorite children’s book here! A heartwarming tale of a child’s free spirit in his pursuit of becoming an artist. Little Ramon loves to draw until his brother laughed at his creations. Disheartened, little Ramon set out on achieving absolute perfection and was only left with a sea of crumpled pieces of paper. Turns out, Ramon’s sister saved every single drawing in admiration, titling each one “vase-ish,” “fish-ish,” “sun-ish.” The story encourages children to follow their passion and never fear perfectionism. If it makes you happy, go for it and don’t listen to the pressure! Ish celebrates creativity, fearlessness, and individuality. Such a great book for children!
On a Beam of Light
A Story of Albert Einstein
Jennifer Berne
Recommend for ages 6-9
On a Beam of Light is such a simple, cerebral book with a huge impact. Beautifully and colorfully written, the readers are introduced to a young Albert Einstein who had trouble speaking. With big curious eyes, Albert discovered the magic of science and questioning. “Albert thought about very, very big things. Like the size and shape of the entire universe,” one page reads. This book is such a fun, imaginative story with great inspiration! I definitely recommend this one for your little/ not so little anymore libraries!
Bedtime Math
A Fun Excuse to Stay up Late
Laura Overdeck
Bedtime Math is the coolest concept ever. These books are illustrated so vibrantly that the kids forget they are actually learning! Each page has a colorful and fun word problem for kids to solve. Every problem has age and skill modifications for all ages and levels. You have to check out the entire series! I can’t wait for my little one to dive into these very soon!
