What mom doest deserve an extra yummy treat every day? What if you got to indulge in something that was actually helping you with your milk supply? Now that is a total win in my book! If you are exclusively breastfeeding or trying to build up a milk stash then you might experience the trouble that many of us feel of not producing enough milk. Well this yummy smoothie helps me with just that! I drink this smoothie in the morning and I truly feel it has made a big difference for my milk production. The best part is that this smoothie tastes absolutely delicious. It gets me out of bed in the early morning even after a long night of not getting enough sleep! As every mom knows, life can get hectic especially with a newborn. I find that I will forget to eat sometimes or I’ll reach for something easy which is usually junk food. Now that isn’t helpful when you are sleep deprived and also wishing these extra pregnancy pounds would just magically ago away. I used to love making protein shakes before I was pregnant. For some reason I just stopped. I blame it on pregnancy brain aka “all the time mom brain”. Once I started making them again I quickly noticed a few big things. I started losing weight since the smoothie was keeping me full. It was easy to make so I wasn’t reaching for candy or junk food. The smoothie tastes delicious so it helped keep my sweet tooth at bay. I also noticed that it was helping me with my milk production which was huge for me. Like so many other breastfeeding moms I am always worried if I was making enough milk. I also wanted to start building a little milk stash so that my husband could watch the little one while I got to get out of the house to run some errands. The smoothie has helped me do just that. On days I don’t drink it I notice that I won’t get as much out of my breasts while pumping as I do on days that I drink this yummy smoothie. Got to love a good protein powder! They help keep me fuller longer and that’s huge when you’re a mom always running around. Here is one of my absolute favorite recipes for a yummy Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Lactation Boosting Smoothie!
What You Need:
1 spoonful of chocolate protein powder
1 frozen Banana
2 tbsp Peanut Butter
3/4 cup Milk
1/4 cup Oats
2 cups ice cubes
Directions:
Add all the ingredients and blend together. Add more water or milk for smoother texture. I like my smoothies thick so I usually add a few extra ice cubes. Add to a cute cup and add a straw and your ready to go! For extra touch of pretty add some whip cream and cocoa powder on top!
*If you want it to be a little sweeter I like to add little dash off vanilla. You could also add some caramel syrup. Yum!
*Extra tips are to make a big batch in the morning so you can have some more throughout the day!
