Today we have to pleasure to welcome a fab event planner, Libby to share how she created an adorable baby shower! She created this beautiful Woodland Theme baby shower for a dear friend all while being overseas in Japan!
“As if living overseas wasn’t already enough of an adventure, (we were in Tokyo Japan!) I got to celebrate huge milestones of my nearest and dearest while abroad. I studied event planning and have been putting it to use by throwing numerous friends showers and parties since college, and I had just finished throwing my daughters over the top (admittedly so) first birthday party. Before the dust even settled I was gearing up for one of my closest friend’s baby shower.
Erin had two distinct baby shower themes for each gender, super floral for a girl and woodland theme for a boy and then handed me the reigns to have all creative control. Selfishly I hoped for a girl, loving and dreaming of everything dripping in flowers and greenery, super soft tulle, etc. Looking back I had so so so much fun doing this theme though, and wouldn’t change it for the world.
I swear I almost had to rent a uhaul to get the party supplies to the rec room we rented but it was so worth it to know she was happy with the finished product. I kept saying the set up and tear down for the event was my cardio and weight lifting for the week, I even set up the table centerpieces while baby wearing my sleeping toddler.
For the food we went with a camping/forest theme, smores on a stick, build your own trail mix, Quinn’s Queso, cheesecake brownies to look like tree bark, and chips & crackers in a picnic basket even yogi bear would be proud of!
The gorgeous cake was made and decorated by another of our closest friends, who is a brilliant photographer and documented the memories as well (shoutout to my girl Rochelle Skovran Photography and her many talents!)
I built the stick teepees and the tabletop tissue fire, as well as all the teepee floral toppers and gifts sign.
A lot of the decor I actually already owned, and then what I did buy I was able to find locally at area malls or IKEA. The rest I supplemented with online shopping (Amazon and Etsy to the rescue!) The majority of the cacti were real (only stabbed myself a handful of times – ouch!) and went to loving homes after the party.
The shower has come and gone, and Quinn actually made his grand debut a few weeks earlier than scheduled. Mom and baby are doing great and some of the shower decor even went home with mom and dad and is waiting for him in his nursery!”
Thank you Libby for sharing such a beautiful shower with us! We absolutely love the Woodland theme for a Baby Shower!
